Augmented Reality Defense And Virtual Reality

By Jason Cole

When it comes to VR and first shooter games, there is often an augmented reality defense component. Currently, one of the most intense games is that of Front Defense. For, the game is based on World War II and puts the player front and center in firefights and a massive battle during the finale at the end of the game.

During the initial stages of the game, the invasion involving Normandy is over and firefights have just started in a fictional European town. At which point, Front Defense puts the player, an Allied Forces hero in the middle of the action to fight off ongoing attacks. While it is a minor battle at first, the action intensifies over the course of the game.

The game allows the player to hunker down behind various well patrolled and armed positions while reloading weapons, switching, diving and ducking. Weapons in the game's war chest include man-mounted guns, grenades, assault weapons and others. For, players often need all the assistance available when it comes to defeating the enemy.

Created by some of the best developers and designers, the game provides the heaviest weaponry possible, reflecting the reality of World War II. As with war, the game uses precision, VR, battlefield and room scaling to provide realistic scenes which have been known to leave players feeling like active members of a unit during the war. For, the main priority behind Front Defense was to leave players feeling as if one were actually at war.

Front Defense is often reported to be one of the most intense, active and realistic games available. For, the intensity and experience of the WWII shooter is the first to use precision tracking and room scaling. As a result, the player has the power to create positions which are more strategic and highlighted when enemy forces take over a European town. While the game is based in actual events, some scenes may be different in architectural style than during World War II.

Other features include, a wide choice of weaponry including the previously mentioned grenades and firearms, dive bombers, armored cars, tanks and other heavy equipment in an effort to defeat the enemy. When it comes to the finale, the end of the game provides an opportunity for the shooter to battle a mysterious Axis super powered weapon which has left many players feeling the finale was more than climatic.

While these games have often been controversial, especially by the conservative far religious right, there is no proof that playing such games results in violent behavior of players later in life. In fact, if anything, the games can be a good method of stress relief to help avoid individuals becoming stressed to the point of road rage, or other such incidents. At the same time, it is important to note that the game does include graphically violent scenes of war and to monitor and supervise players under the age of 16.

Front Defense is Windows based starting with Windows release 7 and subsequent releases. It is important to note that the game is not compatible with any release up and until Windows 7. When it comes to graphics, the game has a NVIDIA graphics interface with 12GM RAM, thus providing some of the most colorful, detailed and dramatic scenes in the VR first shooter market.
