3 Things App Design Companies Must Know About Android

By Arthur Williams

If you want to discuss operating systems, from a mobile standpoint, Android is among the most prominent. Anyone that works in mobile app development will be able to agree, seeing as how they have most likely created programs with said OS in place. With that said, how much do you actually know about Android? After all, it's one of the most detailed platforms in the world. Here are just 3 talking points that are worth going over.

Andy Rubin, who co-founded Android along with three other people, stated that Android was originally meant to be implemented into digital cameras. The way that this would work is that, with this OS in place, people could share their images online. When Google acquired Android, as we'll go into detail about later, the focus shifted from cameras to mobile devices like smartphones. As the cliche goes, the rest is history.

Did you know that Android was founded in 2003? While many people seem to think that Google created the operating system in the first place, it was actually set in place a couple of years before the Google acquisition took place. From there, the media mogul was able to build upon Android, pushing it to the forefront and making it one of the most prominent operating systems in the world. For those that are history enthusiasts, this is more than worth noting.

You may also be curious to know just how large Android is from an audience standpoint. Your local app design company can tell you that it has was well over 1 billion users, spanning 100 languages around the world. This goes far beyond mobile devices, as watches and even car radios run Android technology to some degree or another. To say that this operating system is diverse would be an understatement, and these stats are just a few that reputable authorities like Lounge Lizard can tell you about.

There are many operating systems out there, and it's clear as to why Android stands out. Many people use it - even above Apple, in fact - and to say that it's worth developing for would be an understatement. It's one of the most understandable focuses that an app design company will have to keep in place for the long term. The more that they do so, the more people they'll be able to service in the future.
