Social Personality Judgment & The Work Of Internet Marketing Firms

By Robert Sutter

To say that it is a challenge to measure someone's personality through their actions on the Internet would be an understatement. You simply do not have the means to see how they act in a typical scenario and I do not know if we will ever be able to do so through the online world. However, it appears as though efforts put forth by Five Labs are going to make this more of a reality than ever before. If you are curious as to what this means, here are some details offered by Internet marketing firms.

Business Insider posted an article in regards to a tool that will be able to function with Facebook. Basically, the tool is able to collect the Facebook posts that a user has made before bringing them together in order to measure personalities. Of course, there are specific components to think about when it comes to this process, since the program in question cannot act alone. However, it seems like Five Labs has brought more than a few ideas together in order to make this program operate.

The way that this tool is fueled is with a prior study that was conducted by the University of Pennsylvania. As one can imagine, there are various personality traits that were utilized in order to fuel this program and each of them are based on what modern day psychology entails. From neuroticism to openness, it's clear that there are many specifics to consider with Five Labs' program. Of course, it has to be asked if this program is accurate at gauging personalities.

I am not too sure if anyone can make the claim that this program is as accurate as it can be. Reputable firms such as fishbat may tell you that since a program like this is very new, there are bugs and kinks that may have to be worked out in the future. With that said, Five Labs has a strong idea on its hand and I am sure that it will be worked on and made better in due time. Internet marketing firms may agree with the idea that this digital tool's potential will be reached in the future.

From what I have seen, Five Labs has a strong idea and it is easily one of the most creative in the social media sense. There is a tremendous amount of potential for it to be made better, especially with the rapidly expanding nature associated with the Internet in general. Is it possible that other tools, along the lines of what Five Labs has showcased, can be put to use? More extraordinary things have happened and I have no reason to believe that this can't occur as well.
