Using An Internet Marketing Company To Assess Oculus VR

By Robbie Sutter

Late last month, Facebook made the announcement that it had purchased Oculus VR. For those who do not know, Oculus VR is the company behind the head-mounted virtual reality gaming device known as the Oculus Rift. The strangest thing about this story, though, is that it had garnered many opinions. However, it's safe to say that most of them were negative. There is more to consider with this story, though, and I am sure that an Internet marketing company can place a greater level of emphasis on it.

Amongst the many criticisms that I have seen, in regards to the Oculus VR being brought out by Facebook, is that social media will become even more of a priority. It's important to keep in mind that the Oculus Rift is, first and foremost, a video game device. Gamers and those in the video game industry were the ones who backed this project to begin with. It's clear that there is concern over whether or not the Oculus Rift will become more focused on networking. Can an Internet marketing company offer a different take?

Another reason why this news earned such a tremendous backlash was because of the fact that the Oculus Rift was funded through Kickstarter at the onset. Those who were interested in the product put forth money and once the goal was reached, the backers were promised their rewards. When the news of Facebook's purchase of Oculus VR came into being, many individuals stopped and asked something along the lines of, "Why did we even bother?" I do not think that this is an entirely founded claim.

If anything, I am of the opinion that authorities like fishbat will see this acquisition as a positive more so than a negative. Keep in mind that while Facebook is very much a networking-focused entity, it also has a tremendous amount of money, which can then be applies to the Oculus Rift in order to speed up its production. After all, it is still very much in the developmental phase. I have to believe that this was done in order to get the product out sooner and I am sure that any Internet marketing company would agree.

It's clear that while there are many people who have concerns about the long-term result of Facebook's purchasing of Oculus Rift, they should not be feared. To me, this means that the Oculus Rift - an impressive piece of engineering in its own right - will be able to come about much faster than it would have otherwise. It will be able to offer an experience unlike many others in the field of gaming. If you ask me, this can lead to nothing but positives over the course of time.
